My Health Story
Not to be dramatic, but I've spent most of my 35 years navigating physical and health challenges.
One of the most defining moments was fracturing my spine at 23.
I chose not to have surgery immediately a decision that, while unconventional, shaped both my personal journey and professional path.
People were fascinated by my healing process, and it ignited my passion for movement and wellness.
It was during this time that I almost went back to school to become a DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy)—an idea I ultimately set aside as I pursued a different direction and certifications. (I do get to collaborate and work with DPTs today and enjoy it :))
But the experience was not without its challenges.
The pain was unbearable and took years to fully heal. Like many spinal injuries, it created imbalances in my body, forcing me to overcompensate and ultimately leading to more injuries.
As the “Pilates instructor who fractured her spine,” I also found myself boxed in professionally. While I loved helping others heal, I wanted to evolve beyond that singular identity.
But I wasn’t just healing on a physical level. I was beginning to see that wellness ran much deeper than I’d originally believed.
My body was waving red flags left and right. Persistent pain, strange symptoms, and health issues that refused to budge, no matter how much I moved or how well I ate (hello, copper toxicity).
That’s when it hit me: this wasn’t just physical.
My body was carrying the weight of old injuries, buried emotions, and unresolved life experiences and it was finally asking to be heard.
This understanding changed everything.
I turned to a more holistic approach, combining Pilates with functional movement, yin yoga for peace, and breathwork to quiet my busy mind. Functional & Holistic nutrition gave me an energy boost I hadn’t felt in years.
Bit by bit, I began to heal not just physically but holistically.
These experiences taught me that wellness isn’t about perfection.
It’s about finding sustainable ways to feel whole, vibrant, and balanced.
Today, I’m passionate about sharing these lessons with others, helping you navigate your unique wellness journey.
Finding my center... while keeping one eye on the freezing Pacific Ocean, just in case.

💙 The Breathwork Routine that Saves My Life
A few mindful minutes can change your whole day. I share a car with my husband (well, technically it’s his, but I’m not quite ready to embrace the American car lifestyle). On the way to work, his driving style and love of blasting Metallica were leaving my nervous system fried, so I snuck in five minutes of breathwork in the car. By the time I arrived to teach my clients, I felt grounded and ready to take on the day.
Here’s the breathwork routine I use:
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of 4.
Hold for a count of 7.
Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 8.
Repeat for 5 minutes, focusing on the rhythm of your breath.
